Our goal is for .eco to reflect the breadth and diversity of the global environmental community. The .eco community already has members from almost every country around the world. As many languages cannot be accurately reflected by just using the letters a through z, we are working to ensure that .eco domains can be locally recognizable and correctly represented in your local language.
What languages are supported?
As of March 12 2026, .eco domains now support registering domains using the following languages:
Belarusian
Bosnian (Latin)
Bulgarian
Danish
Finnish
Hungarian
Icelandic
Italian
Korean (Hangul)
Latvian
Lithuanian
Macedonian
Montenegrin
Polish
Portuguese
Russian
Serbian
Swedish
Ukrainian
We are working on adding support for additional major languages and plan to launch more throughout 2026.
Where can I register .eco internationalized domain names?
It is important to note that while the .eco registry supports registering domains containing the characters from these languages, not all registrars support this yet. We are working with our registrar partners to ensure that .eco IDNs are enabled and available for you to register.
When you search for a .eco domain containing non-Latin characters on go.eco we automatically filter the list of available retailers to include only those who we know are capable of registering .eco IDNs. Currently this is a short list of retailers, but it will grow over time.
If you have any questions about .eco IDNs, please get in touch with us via the chat widget.
